The Third Great Awakening

For some time many leaders across the church have talked about the need for a Third Great Awakening.  Many intercessors have spent years praying for this outcome–for me personally, this began in 1988.   In the past 24 years I have seen spiritual movements come and go, and I have seen many ministries rise and fall–but I have yet to see anything like a “great awakening.”

About two months ago I became very disillusioned and disappointed in the response of the church to prayer, and basically stepped back from almost all ministry activity.  In some ways this was a midlife crisis, and in other ways it was a need to get away from the “echo chamber” I was seeing in the Christian community.  I really didn’t want to know what another leader was saying, I wanted to know what God was saying.  I also needed to review what God has said to me in the past.

To my surprise, I have been encountering others feeling the same way I have–a need to step back, listen to God, unplug the ministry “machine,” and get into the scripture.  God is waking a number of people up to a simple truth–the secret is Christ in you the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

About 4 years ago God showed me a vision of waves that took many forms.  The core of the vision is under the Prophetic Words tab on this page.  The last wave I saw was one that was named “TSUNAMI.”  That wave comprised several things–first it was a wall of water that moved from East to West.  It was formed out of ancient wells opening up, and it was powerful.  The Tsunami could destroy anything in its path, and it would change the landscape everywhere it went.  Along with this, there was a sense that those who rode this wave would experience a rebirth of freedom.

I believe this wave is starting to rise, and that it is going come in unexpected ways.  If the church embraced the truth that is being revealed to a few leaders right now, the impact could be much larger than the impact that the Protestant Reformation had in the 16th Century.

For a long time I believed that part of reopening the Ancient Wells meant tapping into the revivals of the past that happened in New York and New England.  I have spent a lot of time, energy, and money traveling to remote places to pray in old churches, at grave sites, and on location in significant spots.  Although there was a lot of value in this to focus and reignite passion, I don’t believe God is going to repeat the events of the past.   I think our Ancient well is the well of truth in the core of the New Covenant–God wants to live in and through you.  For several weeks now I have been meditating on this truth.  Jesus is in you, and if Jesus is in you, then all that Jesus says he is is in you.   At first I made a list of a few promises.  Now I am starting to see the New Testament through a completely new lens.  It’s as if I am looking at a beautiful painting after centuries of grime has been removed.  I didn’t know how good the Good News was.   This truth–the reality of an inside out gospel, is on almost every page.

Both Ezekiel and Jeremiah foretold a day when the law of God would be written in our heart, and Jesus promised there was a place we could dwell in him.  I have struggled for years to appropriate these realities in my life, but I have had seasons of success and seasons of failure.   The issue is not just “how do I get saved?”  The issue is “how can I be the person I was made to be?”  How can I be in Him?  And the most powerful thing of all– ”how can I experience the stuff Jesus says I already have?”

There’s the rub.  We aren’t looking for a sin based revival where people publicly repent for a few days and then go back to “normal.”  We are looking for a body of people to rise up and say “Jesus says this is who I am.”  I am choosing to surrender to Christ in me, and he will live in and through me.  I am going to wake up to the reality that I am an heir, that the Law of God is written on my heart, that I am defined by who I am and not what I do, and that the reality of the life of God–eternal resurrection life–is in my physical body transforming me from the inside out.  And if God in me is transforming me, then God in me can touch you, and God in me can touch the world.  Maybe this is what Paul meant when he said that all of creation is longing for the revealing of the sons of God.  All creation is groaning for us to wake up, walk into who we are, and begin to redeem all creation.  What an earth shaking idea.

What would happen if a body of people embraced this?  There are little glimmers of healing, miracles, and outpourings here and there.  What if there was a body who embraced this as a whole?  It would shake a number of areas in society, and I know it would have a drastic impact on the religious system in many churches.  Maybe this awakening would be nothing short of a Tsunami.

Song about the Deepwater Horizon Spill

On Wednesday June 16, the Lord gave me an extended prophetic song during our time of intercession in the 333 House of Prayer.  Because of the heavily political nature of the word, I waited a few days to process the content of the song.  I have also shared parts of this with a few small groups to see
if there was a consensus that this word was from the Lord.  Given the level of
accuracy I seem to have with “geo-political” words, I sense that this is a
prophetic word that we should at the very least pray about.

My thoughts are not your thoughts, says the Lord, and my ways are not your
ways.
My perspective is not your perspective.
I am releasing the song of heaven,
Not a Democratic Song
Or a Republican Song
Or an Independent Song.
I am releasing the Song of the Kingdom.
My ways are not your ways, and my thoughts are not your thoughts.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a reflection of what I am doing in
the heavens.
Although from your earthly perspective this seems to be a disaster,
From a heavenly perspective, I am showing you what I am doing in the spirit.
The oil gushing out of the ocean¹s floor is like the oil I am pouring out of
heaven on the church.
This is an unprecedented release of oil, and I am releasing an unprecedented
anointing on the Church at this moment.  This is a time of great anointing
and breakthrough for the Church.
This is the finest hour for the Church in America.

This president believes that he has the answers.
He thinks that he can withdraw his hand from Jerusalem.
Because he has withdrawn from Israel, I have withdrawn my hand from him.
I have opened the floor of the sea.
I have caused this calamity.
In heaven there is a solution.
Great will be the undoing of Barack Obama.
The oil will continue until the day that Barack Obama bends his knee.
Many will be perplexed, and unable to solve the problem.
When he publicly repents for his sin,
And confesses his secret activities,
And acknowledges his crimes,

On that day, the very same hour, the oil will cease to flow.

Many will ask, “Why did we believe in him?”  And Who is this, that we trusted in him?
He will be removed from office, and there will be no one to fill the void.

Pray, pray for the Samuel and the David who needs to be released at this
hour.
Pray for the millions of men and women I have prepared in the secret place.
Pray for the nameless and faceless ones to be removed from hiding.
But most of all, pray for the David to arise who will lead.
Pray that there will not be a power vacuum when the day comes.

As an addendum, I believe we should be praying for the President, that his heart would be softened, and that he would be given wise counsel and act upon it.  This a very difficult time for many whose lives have been impacted by the events in the Gulf.

Fall of the House of Eli and Coming World Transition

We have entered into a time of significant transition—from the Government of Man to the Government of God.

In the summer of 1988 the Lord spoke to me about the coming world revival and the end of the generation of the Sons of Eli.

In 2008, the Lord clearly spoke to me about the death of Ted Kennedy and how his death would mark the beginning of the end of the generation of the sons of Eli. At the same time, we are at the end of the beginning of the worldwide revival. For the past season God has been working on preparing his nameless and faceless army in the hidden place.

To completely understand the season of transition we are in, we need to understand who the sons of Eli were, and what they represent to us today.

The Bible tells us in I Samuel 2:12 that Eli’s son’s were “scoundrels.” We also find that they had developed a system of extortion from the people where they took the best parts of the offerings for themselves (v. 13-16). They had a group of young men who bullied the people coming to Shiloh to worship. In 2:17 it says: “The sin of the young men was very great in the sight of the Lord; for the young men treated the offerings of the Lord with contempt.” We also find that they were having sex with the women who served at the tabernacle (v.22). It is clear that all of this was happening with Eli’s knowledge, and although he does ask his sons to stop their behavior, it is clear a few verses later that Eli was benefiting from their activity. By the time that the boy Samuel had entered the service of the Lord, the ministry in the Tabernacle under the house of Levi had developed into the first “Jewish Mafia.”

We also find in I Samuel 3:3 that the House of Eli was letting the lamp in the Sanctuary go out at night, and they were letting Samuel sleep in the Holy of Holies. It is clear that knowledge of the law had diminished, and that the religion of Israel had become whatever the Levites in charge made of it.

In I Samuel 2: 27-36 we read that God sent a prophet to Eli to warn him, and told him that a great transition was about to take place:
“Therefore the God of Israel declares: I promised that your house, and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever . . . I will cut off your strength, and the strength of your father’s house . . . (2:30-32) And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who shall do what is according to what is in my heart and in my mind, and I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before my anointed forever. (2:35)”

There was a promise to the Levites to be the servants and the priesthood of the Lord. The Lord was to be their inheritance. In the second and third chapters of I Samuel we see that the Sons of Eli because of their contempt for the sacrifices, their neglect of the holiness of the temple, and their misuse of the women who served the Lord: would bring an end to promise to the Levites. God was about to raise up a new priesthood.

The end of the House of Eli was the beginning of the transition to the House of David, and his Tabernacle of Praise. This transition would take almost two generations as Samuel and Saul prepared the way for David, the man after God’s heart.
We are now in a similar transition. There are a number of battles that we need to fight as the Lord raises up a generation of Davids to establish his tabernacle of praise in the earth. Israel faced several generations where the priesthood misused its authority, and neglected the Tabernacle and it’s worship. In the end, the House of Eli allowed the Ark of the Covenenant to be taken away by the Philistines in battle. The ark would remain outside the tabernacle for 20 years until David returned it to the center of worship.

We are facing a transition from the dominance of man’s ways over God’s ways. We have had more than 40 years when God’s plan and direction were neglected, when the true worship of God has been neglected, and when the sanctity of life has been neglected. Although there have been many faithful men and women, we are seeing that the decline of culture is reaching a climax. It is clear that God is raising up a new wave of men and women who will lead into the future, who will be the Davids to prepare the way of the Lord. But we are in transition. The future has not come, even while the past is fading.

In the next decades we are going to face wars, and we are going to see some Samuels emerge. Samuel was the anointed transitional figure who would eventually anoint the man after God’s heart—David. But we will also see Sauls arise, men and women who although they are indicating some of the new things God is doing, operate under and in the attitudes and ideas of Eli. Don’t be surprised when men and women appear who are moving in great power, or lead great movements of prayer and worship, but also have obvious elements of the humanism, sensuality, and commerce in their ministries. It will take a generation or two for the next generation, fixed on holiness, dependent on God’s economy, moving in supernatural purity and power to emerge.

Right now there are men and women hidden throughout the earth who have been preparing for this transitional time. They are getting ready for the coming of the kingdom and the return of the King!

The Lord gave me the following word on June 7, 2010:
I am breaking open the stronghold of the media.
The media will be laid bare and the spirit of anti-Christ in it.
There will be increased cracking open in media leaders as the spiritual strongholds that support them begin to give way under the power of prayer.
There has been increased angelic activity as more and more men and women awaken to their call and release the sound of heaven.
This sound is a new sound, and it is much more powerful than the sound of the accuser in the land.
The vibration of heaven is forcing the media to tremble and it’s rigid structure is beginning to crack from within.
I am raising up the voice of truth.
Like light and dark, lies must give way to the truth as truth is released into the atmosphere.
Speak the truth in prayer and in worship.
Declare the truth in the night and in your congregations.
As the truth is released it will begin to shake the atmosphere.

Shifts are continuing all over the United States.
The oil leak is the church’s opportunity.
Pray for the Samuel’s and the David’s to arise as Eli’s house continues to collapse.
There are millions of hidden leaders poised to be released.
In the shift, pray that there will be no power vacuum,
Pray that the hidden leaders would emerge.
Do not look to the world economy, but look to heaven’s economy as the shifts continue to take place.
We have moved into a time when the sound and color of heaven need to be released.

The House of Eli must fall.
This is the house that has reigned for 40 years.
This is the house that disregarded the holiness of my sanctuary and used it for a tent.
This is the house that did not keep my lamp burning, but allowed it to go out.
This is the house that touched my offerings and raped those who brought them.
This house disregarded my law, my order, and my holy place.
They do not worship me, but themselves, and their own image.
Because of this, Eli’s house must fall.

Pray for the Samuels and the Davids.
Pray that they restore my fallen tent.
I do not see power the way man sees power.
The power that will be released will be released through songs, through music,
Through light and color.
Eli gives awards to his troubadours,
But I will give the earth to my Psalmists.
I am about to glorify my people and many will see and fear and put their trust in me.
Turn to me and I can shift apparent outcomes.
There is an answer to every human problem.

Fix your eyes on Plymouth, and what I do there.
I am reversing the curses of many generations.
I am restoring.
Like the pages in a book, I am turning back chapters in America.
Erasing the errors of many generations
And restoring the inheritances of many.
